Tim's 20 Tube System in Hull

(12 Apr 2007) "It has been running all day and I have raised the temperature of the 210L tank to 40C and today hasn’t been all that sunny so I’m very happy".

(14 May 2007)The system has been running for one month and it has recovered heat every day from the collector.

The heat generated by the collector seems consistent; on an overcast day it raises the bottom of the 210L capacity tank by 11C, on sunny days the collector has raised the whole tank to a temperature of 55C.

The water is heated to a usable temperature by the after heating function on the RESOL controller which starts the gas boiler. The hour’s counters are standing at 200hrs thermal recovery and only 8 hrs total after heating in the last month.

The system is located in East Yorkshire near to the city of Hull so the weather is pretty average for the British Isles.

The only change I have made to the system is installing a 2 port valve to shut off the primary circuit when the pump isn’t running preventing a thermo siphon being established cooling the storage tank down.

So thanks again
