Solar Thermal

Solar thermal systems use heat from the sun to heat water that works alongside your conventional water heater. Solar thermal systems can produce between 30% to 70% of your annual hot water needs. Not only do they reduce the amount of energy you consume they can also prolong the lifespan of your boiler.

The technology is well developed with a large choice of equipment to suit many applications. For domestic hot water there are three main components: solar collector a heat transfer system, and a hot water cylinder. Solar collectors are in most cases fitted to your roof. They collect heat from the sun's radiation. The heat transfer system uses the collected heat to heat water. A hot water cylinder stores the hot water that is heated during the day and supplies it for use later.

Solar Photovoltaic

Photovoltaic systems use cells to convert solar radiation into electricity. The photovoltaic (PV) cell consists of one or two layers of a semi conducting material, usually silicon. When light shines on the cell it creates an electric field across the layers, causing electricity to flow. Cells are arranged in panels which can be fixed to the roof of the property. The electricity produced is then stored in deep cycle leisure batteries using a solar charge controller or exported back to the grid using a grid tied inverter.

Wind Turbines

Wind turbines convert the power from the wind into electricity. This can then be stored in deep cycle leisure batteries or exported to the grid using an inverter. Wind turbines work best in open spaces without any obstructions interfering with the wind flow. The most common type of wind turbine is the horizontal axis turbine (HAWT). These are typically upwind turbines that have a tail to direct the blades into the wind. There are a few manufacturers who make downwind hawts. Another type of wind turbine is the vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT). These turbines are generally based on the Savonious turbine which uses drag forces or the Darrieus turbine which uses lift forces generated by an aerofoil.

Stainless Steel Swimming Pool Heat Exchangers

Swimming pool heat exchangers are used to transfer the heat generated by the boiler or any other heating method to the water that is in the pool. By using a heat exchanger both sides of the system are kept apart and thus any chemicals on the pool side which could be corrosive to the heating system are kept away. Likewise the inhibitors on the heating side are kept away from the occupants of the pool. Heat exchangers are sized according to the boiler used or ideally to the size of the pool and a suitable boiler is used to match this.

These heat exchangers are ideal for use with Koi ponds and solar thermal systems.

Deep Cycle Leisure Batteries

Deep cycle batteries and leisure batteries have the ability to be charged and disharged more times than the average lead acid battery. A leisure battery is ideal for campervans, caravans, motorhomes, canal boats, leisure boats, golf buggies, solar photovoltaic systems ,wind turbine systems or other off grid systems.

Battery Chargers and Accessories

Using the correct battery charger will prolong the life of your leisure battery. Our battery chargers are multistage, microchip controlled to constantly monitor the leisure battery during the charging cycle. Once fully charged the battery charger will automatically switch to a float charge to maintain the leisure battery's charge state whilst not overcharging it.

Daikin Altherma Air Source Heat Pump

Daikin's Altherma is a split sytems air to water heat pump that takes freely available heat from the ambient air to provide energy efficient space heating for the home. Altherma's microchip controller constantly monitors the outside temperature to regulate the Altherma's heating circuit to the optimal temperature, and thus giving high coefficiency of performance figures through out the year.

The Altherma can work with underfloor heating and standard low temperature radiators. The Altherma can even provide cooling in the summer, however fancoils are required for this.

Daikin's Altherma is an ideal replacement for traditional fossil fuel boilers and is a must for new build properties or rural properties that require LPG gas or fuel oil for space heating and hot water.
